한동안 거세게 불던 `노무현 바람’이 도대체 어디로 갔느냐고 궁금해 하는 사람들이 많다. 신문에 자주 등장하는 정치 전문가들의 자상한 해설을 듣고서도 여전히 납득이 안 되는 모양이다. 현 단계의 한국 사회가 직면해 있는 최대의 난제라 할 `문화적 지체’ 현상으로 설명해보면 어떨까 문화는 은근하고 끈질기다. 민주주의는 독재정권을 타도하고 민주정권을 세우는 것만으론 완성되지 않는다. 오랜 독재정권 치하에서 익힌 습속은 하루 아침에 타도할 수 없기 때문이다. 의식의 세계는 민주주의를 지향할망정 무의식과 잠재의식의 세계는 독재정권의 일사불란한 통치력을 지향하는 모순이 아주 자연스럽게 발생하는 것도 바로 그런 이유 때문이다. 그러한 `문화적 지체’ 현상의 대표적인 예가 바로 `박정희 신드롬’이다. `박정희 신드롬’은 별개의 고립된 현상이 아니다. 사회 전 분야에 걸쳐 작동하고 있는 문화적 지체 현상의 원형이다. 한국인들은 이구동성으로 이른바 `보스 정치’를 욕한다. 그러나 그들이 `머리’가 아닌 `온몸’으로 그걸 욕하느냐 하면 그건 아니다. 오히려 정반대다. 그들은 그런 정치를 욕하면서도 대통령 후보들에게 그런 정치를 할 때에만 갖출 수 있는 위엄과 무게를 요구한다. 한국인들은 대선 후보들의 진실성을 원하는가 모두 다 입으론 원한다고 답하겠지만, 그들은 동시에 그들이 `대통령다운’ 연기를 해주기를 기대하고 있다. 그들은 이른바 `인치’를 원치 않는다고 말하면서도 여전히 `군림하는 지도자’상을 꿈꾸고 있다. 한국인들에게 그런 자기 모순을 깨달을 능력이 없는 건 아니다. 바로 여기서 조·중·동이 문제가 된다. 이들이 사실상 한국 언론의 의제 설정을 주도하고 있기 때문이다. 조·중·동은 노골적인 조작을 일삼는 단순무식한 신문들이 아니다. 이들은 대중에게 먹혀들어갈 수 있을 만한 `건수’를 잡아 과장과 왜곡으로 요리를 해서 그럴 듯한 음식을 내놓을 정도의 지적 능력을 갖고 있는 신문들이다. 노무현 후보에 대한 조·중·동의 초기 공격은 실패로 돌아갔다. 그때는 색깔론 중심이었고 의제 설정을 노무현 후보와 민주당이 주도할 수 있었기 때문이다. 민주당 경선이 끝나자마자 개시된 조·중·동의 2차 공격은 유권자들의 일상적 삶에서 가장 왕성하게 작용하는 습속이라 할 `어법’과 `스타일’에 집중되었다. `노무현 죽이기’라고 해도 좋을 정도로 정말 집요한 공격이었다. 조·중·동의 2차 공격은 성공했으며, 우리는 지금 그 결과를 보고 있다. 지나친 `조·중·동 결정론’이 아니냐는 반론이 있을 법 하다. 타당한 반론이다. 노무현 후보와 민주당과 김대중 정권이 져야 할 책임까지 조·중·동에게 전가시킬 수는 없는 일이다. 그러나 동시에 유권자들이 지난 몇 개월 사이에 민주당과 김대중 정권의 실체를 깨닫게 된 건 아니라는 점을 간과할 순 없는 일이다. 역사학자 최상천씨는 <한겨레> 8월31일치에 쓴 `137명의 가신들’이라는 제목의 칼럼에서 “이회창씨와 137명은 `주군-가신 관계’를 한 걸음도 벗어나지 못했다”고 말했다. 이 판단에 동의하지 않더라도 조·중·동이 `보스 정치의 청산’이라고 하는 평소의 논지에 충실하고자 했다면 그들이 대선 후보들과 관련해 집중적으로 문제삼아야 할 건 바로 그런 점이었을 것이다. 그러나 조·중·동은 정반대로 `보스 정치’를 하지 않기 때문에 빚어질 수 있는 문제들을 부정적으로 부각시키는 데 바빴고 그런 보도와 논평의 틀 안에서 노무현 후보를 격하하고 폄하하는 시도를 집요하게 해왔던 것이다. 조·중·동은 조작을 하는 게 아니라 유권자들의 습속을 악용하고 있다. 그런 의미에서 이번 대선은 그러한 `문화적 지체’와의 싸움이라고 해도 과언이 아니다. 강준만/ 전북대 신문방송학과 교수  couple: ecf9c35eb1d987c78abb494b963d56aa http://www.genealowiki.com/pub/Main/LarryLaffer/wifeswapping.html >wife swingers free pics
